Surgical Procedures

From spays & neuters to complex surgery

We offer surgical services ranging from routine spays and neuters through to challenging soft tissue and abdominal surgery. We also provide complete dental diagnostics and treatment under general anesthesia — the only way to properly and safely address disease below the gumline, with careful extraction of teeth that are causing pain.

Pets are required to come fasted before sedation or surgery. For pets 7 and under, pre-procedural bloodwork is optional but recommended; for pets 8 and older, it's strongly advised.

Microchipping

A fast, simple way to bring lost pets home

Microchipping is a fast, simple way to make sure that if your cat or dog ever gets lost, they can be quickly reunited with you through a scan of their microchip number. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, implanted under your pet's skin via a needle — it won't fade or leave a mark like a tattoo.

Microchips can be given during a regular appointment, or at the same time as a surgical procedure. Most microchip companies also have easy-to-navigate websites so you can update your contact info any time it changes.

Switching vets

Transferring your pet's records

Yes, we can transfer your records

Your pet's medical records contain vital information that our veterinarians use to make the best health decisions for your pet's specific needs. If you're looking to transfer over to us, either phone your previous veterinarian's office and request they send your pet's records to us, or ask our receptionists for help — we want to make the transfer as easy on you as possible.

What we offer once you're here

Examinations, X-rays, dental surgery and cleanings, a wide range of surgical procedures, laboratory diagnostics, and more. If you're ready to book an appointment, give us a call!

Frequently asked

Questions new (and current!) clients ask us

Appointments & Records

Yes! We are accepting new clients and their furry friends. Drop us a request form or give us a call and we can get you set up.

Yes you can! Either phone your previous veterinarian's office and request they send your pet's records to us, or ask our receptionists for help — we want to make the transfer as easy on you as possible.

For surgical and dental procedures, an estimate is given at your pet's scheduled drop-off time and someone will go over it with you. If you'd like an estimate in advance — for these or any other procedure — just phone the hospital and we'll email one over.

Bring them in to have the incision evaluated. Sometimes no action is needed, and other times a suture or surgical staple has to be added — a veterinarian is the best judge of what's right for their healing.

Prescriptions & Products

We ask for 24 hours notice. Fill out the prescription refill form on our website, or phone the hospital directly. Note that some medications can't be refilled without a recent exam — if you're unsure, just give us a call.

We carry a wide range of veterinary diets for cats and dogs. If we don't currently carry your pet's food, the clinic says it can usually special order it in 2–7 days.

Unfortunately we can't ethically or legally dispense medications without having seen the patient for an examination. We do offer some over-the-counter flea control options, or we'd be happy to see your new pet for an exam.

A fast, simple way to reunite you with a lost pet through a quick scan. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, implanted under the skin, and given during an appointment or a surgical procedure.

Surgery & Diagnostics

Yes — pets need to come fasted before their sedation or surgery day, to keep every part of the procedure as safe as possible. Full fasting instructions are given in a confirmation call beforehand.

For pets 7 and under, pre-procedural bloodwork is optional but recommended, giving us a healthy baseline. For pets 8 and older, it's strongly advised, since health can decline with age just as it does in people.

Saying goodbye

We're here for the hardest days too

We want to do all that we can to help you with this difficult decision. As pet owners ourselves, we understand how challenging these times are. If you need to talk to lighten your heart, we are always here to listen — and our experienced veterinarians can offer valuable insight through quality-of-life exams.

When it's time, there are questions only you can answer as their family — are they still enjoying their favourite things as much as they used to? These questions can be overwhelming, so please don't hesitate to contact us if you need help working through them.

Private Cremation

Your pet's ashes are returned to you in a chosen urn or memorial necklace. Home burial and family presence during cremation are also options, pre-scheduled directly with our partner.

Common Cremation

Ashes are not returned. We can also offer a clay paw print keepsake of your pet if you'd like one.

We work with Glory Bound Pet Crematorium, a family-run business based in Sooke, to provide the best possible care for your pet and their remains.
